How much does a custom waterfall cost in San Diego?
Standalone waterfalls typically start around $12,000 and scale up with height, rock work, and integration. A waterfall feeding a pond is quoted as part of the pond project. Every project gets a firm written estimate after an on-site visit.
Can a waterfall be added to my existing pond?
Usually yes. We assess your current filtration, plumbing, and edge grade, then design a waterfall that fits the pond's flow and style rather than fighting it.
Do waterfalls need a pond?
No. We build waterfalls that end in a hidden pondless reservoir, tumble into a shallow basin, or feed a stream. If you love the sound but don't want an open pond, a pondless waterfall is the way.
How loud is it?
You choose. A gentle sheeting waterfall sounds like rain on leaves. A stepped rock cascade sounds like a mountain creek. We tune the lip stones on site to hit the sound you want.
Will it work on flat ground?
Yes. We build the elevation from imported soil and boulders. A convincing three-to-four-foot waterfall is easy to create on a flat yard.
How much maintenance does a waterfall need?
Very little. Check the skimmer basket weekly in season, rinse the filter media a few times a year, and top off water as evaporation calls for it. We leave every client with a written seasonal schedule.
Does the pump run all the time?
Most clients run it 24/7 in season for aeration; some put it on a timer for evenings. Modern pumps are quiet and efficient — expect $15 to $40 per month in power for a typical residential waterfall.
Do you handle permits?
Yes. We pull the electrical and any required grading permits and coordinate inspections as part of the build.
